Why study at the Tecnológico de Monterrey?
The NACLE exchange student will have the opportunity of studying at one of the most prestigious private universities in Latin America. Moreover, the courses we offer for the NACLE students are part of the Master’s Program in International Law of the EGAP, the Graduate School of Public Policy and Public Administration. Professors of EGAP have extensive experience in both private and public sectors and many of them have obtained doctoral degrees from some of the best universities in the world.
Although a fundamental knowledge of Spanish is required, we offer some courses in English and many of the materials we use are available in English.
In addition, the EGAP has a new building in the Monterrey area, an architectural masterpiece with state-of-the-art facilities (www.itesm.mx/egap) Our school has the best infrastructure of distance-learning and information technologies in Latin America.
Alumni of the graduate program in International Law are skilful leaders in managing the regulatory aspects of international trade as well as international dispute settlement mechanisms. Our graduates are capable of undertaking the challenges and responsibilities of the law professional within a global economy.
In addition to NACLE, the graduate program in International Law has exchange agreements with the Georgetown University Law Center and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, in Spain.
EGAP also promotes research programs and activities that support its global mission.
Our research program
The EGAP has a permanent research program on “Democracy and the Rule of Law”. The program is aimed at studying the challenges that Mexican society is facing at a stage of democratic consolidation.
Main research areas:
• The legislative process and the rule of law
• Evaluation of impact of the legislative bills
• Democracy, citizenship and civil society
• Quality of democracy and the rule of law
More specifically, in the International studies field, the main research topics are:
• Investor – State arbitrations (NAFTA and the BITs)
• International Human Rights
• Mexico’s international trade agreements
About the Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM)
Our university was founded in 1943 by a group of entrepreneurs lead by Eugenio Garza Sada. It currently has 34 campuses sponsored by 25 non-profit civil organizations around the country. ITESM is a private, non-religious university system with no political affiliation. We receive students from more than 20 different countries.
